The lagoon lay shimmering in the afternoon heat, mesmerized by the sun. Three young boys jostled in the thicket nearby sharing a smoke, then tired, they plunged into the lagoon, rippling the waters, alarming a stork.
At that particular moment […]
Usually I stay up in a festive mood till the new year’s dawn but last night was an exception. The resolutions got scrapped at around 10-1030pm I guess. I wanted to do an al night AJAX hackathon but was too sleepy for that as well. Swayed around being jolted about by fireworks, and finally hit […]
Cleaning out last years clutter I came across my hi5 account and it seems most people have left to Facebook or something. So I cancelled my account. 1 less password to store. Anyone still on hi5 and loving it?

The blogosphere is in Janus mode, autopsying 2007 and prophetizing about 2008. Very fitting since the Roman deity Janus after whom January is named, is the god of “gates, doors, doorways, beginnings, and endings”. The double headed statues of Janus is friendly representation of how we see time. A liner thing - past and […]
Last weekend me and a bunch of friends of mine went to Kanneliya. It is a tropical rainforest and a national forest reserve. I wish I could post some photos, but my camera is broken. But you can see the photos I took on the trip to Sinharaja on my Flickr album. It was the […]

And here it is. 2008. Another year has gone and we will never get back a second of dear 2007. Is it a time to reflect at what we have done wrong, what we haven’t done right? What we plan to do better?
The time for resolutions arrives again, and i’m not really one to stick to them but i know that somethings must change or else there’s really no point in celebrating a brand spanking new year right?
So what are my resolutions this year? I’m not sure. I just hope that they involve spending more time with my loved ones and friends, and not so much with work and stress. I’ll be 28 this year. Sheesh. Where has my youth run off to?
Nevertheless, I’m gonna try to do more this year, possibly go abroad for fun/opportunities, meet new people and strengthen exisiting relationships perhaps.
God has his plan for me so I think i’ll just take it a month at a time, for the days just whiz by too fast…
A couple of months prior to the 1996 Wills World Cup, Sri Lanka found themselves on a tough tour to Australia. Heavy losses in the test series and the infamous boxing day test match where Darrell Hair no balled Murali for throwing had the entire team in very low spirits.
It was then that Ranatunga and Whatmore conjured up the attacking opening combination of Jayasuriya and Kaluwitharana. The birth of a strategy that was to win Sri Lanka it’s 1st World Cup.
Awww… it was wunnerful. Totally womantic. What am I gushing about? The dawn of 2008 on my end of the stick.Since end of year usually means we’re completely broke thanks to heavy bouts of christmas shopping and the mismanaged economy of the country, 31…

As I’m still getting the occasional “What next… Easter Inc.?! Bwaahahahaha” joke, I feel I must begin by stating for the record that there will be no cheesy sequel. At least not from me. If someone else is inspired to write Epiphany Inc.: Santa’s Revenge, don’t blame me.
“Munasinghe was given a brief run in the one-day side and, despite not earning further representative honours, he did not let the team down. Munasinghe had the ability to bowl a consistent line and length and thus maintained an impressive economy rate in his limited matches. A constant figure in representative sides, he played numerous matches against touring sides before being selected for the 1995-96 tour of Australia. His best performance came at the MCG when he ran through the Australian top order taking 3 for 30, in the process setting up victory for Sri Lanka. Following the conclusion of the World Series he was not selected for the 1996 World Cup and drifted from the international scene.” - Cricinfo.
It’s just past midnight. A cacophony of fire crackers are greeting the New Year in Colombo as I write. The radio is playing oldies a mixture of English and Sinhala favourites like the old bailas …The SMS beeps bring in more good wishes, the young undergraduates next door shout “Jayaweva” as they light their crackers.
Greeting to all. This is 2008. Now I am sitting in front of my personal computer and thinking about my future. For sure, 2008 will be big big year for me. But, January 1st is just one day after 31st of December. Very simply it’s a just another da…

I have half an hour of 2007 remaining and while half of Colombo parties and gets roaring drunk, I sit in contemplation listening to Norah Jones and waiting for the sound of fireworks to signal the turn of a year.
I view each New Year as a chance to start anew. I get to erase the […]
“New Year’s eve is like every other night;
there is no pause in the march of the universe,
no breathless moment of silence among created things
that the passage of another twelve months may be noted;
and yet no man has quite the same thoughts this evening
that come with the coming of darkness on other nights.”

2007 has certainly rushed past me faster than Michael Schumacher doing a lap on the Italian F1 track at Monza. I have to say though that as fast as it went past, a lot of events have left great memories to think back on. I made some great new friends, bought my first car, moved […]
As I blog, I can hear my neighbours firing away tons of crackers which started as early as about 6:30pm and they continue to fire away… So looks like there are many who hope that the new year would turn out to be a blast… So let me wish all…

The year 2007 began on a high note for me. No sooner followed a few setbacks. The choices were hard and the solutions seemed scarce. Time, friends and family kept the rhythm of life flowing. I don’t have any regrets. It was indeed one of those life lessons. Perhaps I had to learn it the hard way. Given the same situation now, I probably would handle it differently.
Mid year came, I had to make some deceive decisions relating to my career. It was a tough one to make at the time. Looking back at it now, I know I made the right choice.
All in all, I have enough hallmark moments I can take away with me to the year 2008. I suppose at the end of it all, it really comes down to two things for me.
* The people…. who left a foot print in my life. * The moments/memories…. that made me smile, happy and sad.
As you might have realized, this year has been a mixed bag of experiences for me. Through it all, I am proud to say that I have learned, grown and matured!
“Year’s end is neither an end nor a beginning, but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us.” ~ Hal Borland
As I step into another new year, I have hope…Hope of better days for you and me. What will year 2008 have in store for us?
May it bring more misery to the terrorists and their supporters. Letthe forgin aid grants hinder more and more, to the pro terrorist NGO’sin the country. :-DLet the profits shrink, for NGO businessmen.May 2008 be an even worse year than, 2007 for all the traitors of ourmotherland. For fellow real Sri Lankans, may the new year bring peace and prosperaty. Happy New Year Sri Lanka!
This was I am sure the toughest year I had to face and the blog I started about six months ago, when I had a few spare moments will attest to some of the trials I had to undergo. Looking on the bright side, I was not troubled at all by sickness, barely…
