සමාජය ගඟුලක් වැනි ය. ගඟුල නිරතුරුව ඉදිරියට ගලයි. විටෙක ගඟුල, සීත නිලන නිල් දිය රැලිති මත දෙපස තුරුලියෙහි මල් රොනවුලින් ඔටුනු පැළැඳ ලැසි ගමන් යයි. ගිමන් කල වාලුකා තලාව මත සිහින් දිය කීරක් ව අපවත්වැ යයි.එමැ ගඟුල මැ වැසි වට සැනින් භයංකර රෞද්ර වෙස් ගෙන දෙගොඩ තලා යයි. එක මැ ගඟුල කිසිෙවකුට දෙවරක් දැකිය නොහැකි යයි එක්තරා දාර්ශනිකයෙක් කීවේ එහෙයිනි. කලා කෘතිය එක්තරා සමාජ ප්රතිබිම්භයකි. එය යම් සමාජ මොහොතක සේයා රුවකි. ඊට පසුබිම් වූ සමාජ මොහොතේ තතු කලා කෘතියෙන් පිළිබිඹු වෙයි. එහෙයින් යම් යම් යුගවලට අයත් කලා කෘති කිහිපයක් විමසීමෙන් සමාජ විකාශයේ ඇති තතු විමසීය හැකි ය. එය කලාවේ කාර්යයභාරය හදුනා ගැනීමට ද සමාජ විඥානය ඉසියුම් ව මුවහත් කර ගැනීමට ද කදිම මගකි. 1950 දශකයේ සිට ලාංකේය ස්ත්රියගේ සමාජ කාර්යභාරය අළලා විරචිත ගී කිහිපයක් අපි අද විමසමු.

ජේ.ඒ.මිල්ටන් පෙරේරා විසින් ගැයූ මේ ගීයෙන් සාම්ප්රදායික සිංහල ගැමි සමාජයේ ලලනාවට හිමිවූ තත්ත්වය සහ ඇගේ කාර්යභාරය වර්ණිත ය. ඇය අයත් වන්නේ ගැමි සමාජයේ ද ගොවි පැලැන්තියට ය. එය ග්රාමීය පහළ මධ්යම පන්තියයි. අදට දශක කිහිපයකට පෙර මෙරට ගොවි ලියන්ගේ ජීවන ක්රමය මෙය වූ අතර අගනුවරින් ඈත ගම් නියම් ගම්වල අද ද එය ජීවමාන ය. එම සමාජයේ කුටුම්භය නඩත්තු කිරීම සැමියාගේ වගකීම වූ අතර ගේ දොර කටයුතු බලා කියා ගැනීම ඇතුලු කටයුතු රාශියක් බිරියට පැවරිණි. මේ ගීයෙන් විවරණය වන්නේ ඇගේ කාර්යභාරය සහ ස්ත්රිය අරා පැතිරි චින්තනයයි.
අරුණෝදයේ මැලිකම් දුරැලා පිබිදෙන්නී, මුහුණ දොවන්නී ය. මිදුල අමදින්නී ය. කුල දේවතාවෝ නමදින්නී ය. ඇය එම කටයුතු ඉමහත් සතුටින් කළ වග ද නිතින සිනාවතින් මැ සැරසී සිටි වග ද අරුණ උදයේ පිපුණු මලකට ඇය සම කිරීමෙන් ධ්වනිත වේ.
සෙසු අන්තරා කොටස් තුනෙන් කියැවෙන්නේ ද එකී ජීවිතයේ සෙසු අවස්ථාවෝ ය. ඇය දිය පිණිස ළිඳට යන්නේ නාලියක් හෙවත් ඇතින්නියක් මෙනි. ඇල් පවනේ සැසැලෙන ගොයමින් සුසැදි වෙල් එළියක් මැදින් රූපශ්රියෙන් විරාජමාන ගැමි ළියක දිය කළයක් උකුලැතිව සාඩම්බර ලැසි ගමන් යනු අපේ සිත ඇඳෙයි. ලිපේ ගිනි දලු මෙන් ඈ කඩිසර ය. ඉන් ඇගේ කඩිසර බව මෙන් ම ඇගේ රන්වන් ඡවි කල්යාණය ද ධ්වනිත කරයි.
ඇයට සිය මාපියන්ගෙන් උරුම වූ ආරිය සිංහල සිරිත් ඈ මහ ඉහළින් සුරකියි. පිළිපදියි. එමෙන් මැ ඕනෑම සංස්කෘතියක මුර දේවතාවන් ලලනාවන්ය යන සනාතන දහම ද ඉන් ප්රකාශිත ය. පිනට දහමට හුරු ඇගේ සිත සුපිරිසිදු ය. සියුමැලි සිත කෙතරම් පිවිතුරු ද යත් බබලන සඳ මඩල මෙනි. කඳු රැලි අතරින් පීදි මුළු ගම ම සඳ වතුරින් තෙමන සඳ කෙතරම් සෞම්යය ද ? පිවිතුරු ද ? ඒ සඳ මෙන් මැ මේ සිංහල ලිය ද මුළු ගම්මානය මැ එළි කරන බව ද ඇය සනුහරේට මැ ආඩම්බරයක් බව ද ඉන් අන්යාලාපයෙන් නොකිය වේ ද?
ඇය නිවසේ මූලික කාර්ය අහවර කොට ලද විවේකය සඵලදායි ලෙස ගත කළ ආකාරය අනතුරුව කියැවෙයි. පොල් අතු විවීමෙන් බීරළූ ගෙතීමෙන් යම් මුදලක් උපයන ලියන් ගැමියන්ට අරුමයක් නොවේ. එසේ ම වී කෙටීම දර පැලීම සහ ඉවුම් පිහුම් කටයුතු ද ඇය නොපිරිහෙළා ඉටු කළා ය.
සාම්ප්රදායික ගැමි ජීවිතයේ ස්ත්රිය නිරූපණය කළ ප්රබල භූමිකාව මින් නිරූපිත ය. ඇගේ එම කාර්යභාරය සමාජයේ ගෞරවාදරයට හේතු විය. මේ ගීයෙන් ඈ වෙත හෙලන දයාබර බැල්ම ඊට කදිම නිදසුනකි. ඇය අරුණෝදය සමග පිපුණු මලකි; සාඩම්බර ඇතින්නියකි; ගමම ඒකාලෝක කරන සුපුන් සඳ ය. තනි නොතනියට දඬුවැට වී දුක සැප බෙදා හදා ගන්නා ගැහැනිය පිළිබඳ ගැමි පුරුෂයා තුළ සෙනෙහසක් මෙන් ම ගෞරවයක් ද විය. ඇය තලා පෙලා තුටු වීම ඔවුනට නුහුරු ය.
කෙසේ වුව ද කලක් අප ද ඇසුරු කළ මාක්ස්වාදය සහ කාන්තා විමුක්ති සංවිධානවලට අනුව මේ පුරුෂාධිපත්ය විසින් කාන්තාව කුස්සියට ගාල් කර වහලියකගෙන් මෙන් වැඩ ගැනීමකි. සූරා කෑමකි. ඇගේ අයිතිවාසිකම් උදුරා ගැනීමකි. ඇගේ අධ්යාපන වරප්රසාද අහිමි කර සමාජයෙන් පිටුවහල් කර තැබීමකි. මේ සැබෑවක් ද? ඒ පිළිබඳ ඔබ තුළ විවිධ අදහස් තිබිය හැකි ය. මගේ අදහස නම් මේ ගීයෙන් විවරණය වන ලෝකය සමස්ත සිංහල කාන්තාවගේ ලෝකය නොවන බව ය. එහි එක් පැති කඩක් පමණක් බව ය. එසේ ම ඒ ජීවන ක්රමය අපෙන් ඈත් කළ ද ඊට වඩා සොඳුරු විකල්පයක් අද වන තුරුත් අපට නොලැබුණු බව ය.
කාන්තාව ළිප මුල්ලට තල්ලු කොට පුරුෂාධිපත්ය රජයන මෙහෙව් රටේ රන් කෙණ්ඩියක් හිසින් ගත් ස්ත්රියකට දෙවුන්දර තුඩුවේ සිට පේදුරු තුඩුවට නිරුපද්රිත ව යාමට හැකි විණැයි රොබට් නොක්ස් පැවසුවේ ය. ලෝකයේ ප්රථම අගමැතිනිය මෙන් ම ලොව ප්රථම විධායක ජනාධිපතිනිය ද බිහි වූයේ මෙහෙව් රටේ ය. විවියන් ගුණවර්ධන වැනි කාන්තාවන් 1930 දශකයේ රාජ්ය මන්ත්රණ සභාවට පත් වූයේ ද මෙහෙව් රටේ ය. තවත් ඈතට ගියහොත් අනුලා දේවිය මෙරට රජකමට පත් වූයේ කි.පු.48 දී ය.
අප කැමති වුව ද නැත ද ගීයෙන් නිරූපිත යුගය පසු කර ලෝකය බොහෝ දුර ගොස් ය. ඒ ගමනේ තවත් සංධිස්ථානයක් අසබඩ මෙවැනි ම ගීයකින් ආයෙමත් හමු වෙමු.
1.Freedom - To get out, run away, hide at my own free will. I guess my current status in life gives me that freedom to an extent but the monetary limitations refrain from me going really mad.
2.Love – Having someone who loves me back, as much as they can, gives me warm tingly sensations all over. Having the ability to share that love fills me with pride and gooeyness.
3.Liquid Assets – Always a good thing to have no? But sadly never enough to sustain happiness.
4.The Rain – It never ceases to follow me and leave me awestruck at its simplicity and intensity. How it encases absolutely everything in its path, leaving a glistening landscape in its wake.
5.Family – Knowing that whatever I may end up doing with my life they’ll always want to support me and stick by me. Damn cool feeling.
6.Food – Gifted with an inhuman metabolism of never gaining weight, I love to eat. Let me rephrase that, I LIVE to eat. From hotdogs to four course meals and everything in between, food is my joy.
7.Gaming - Spending hours and hours in another reality works wonders on my sanity.
8.Close Friends – I don’t have many, I choose not to. Less people I could possibly mistrust. The ones I do have are the ones I wanna do all the crazy stuff with.
9.My Outlook – No not my email software, I’m talking about my perspective on life. Might be a tad naïve for my own good, but at least I don’t wake up each morning with the urge to mess up someone’s life.
10.Laughter – Even if it’s directed at me. Laugh at yourself more, you’ll live longer.
